Dear Friends,

As a break, I thought I might try to translate some Thai Pali for a
change... but, alas, it is quite difficult for me to decypher. So, I
put it to the group as a challenge. This is the verses chanted in
praise of the cetiya at Doi Suthep. Please help - I gave up after
"kesavaramatthalu"nkha.m" - the noble hair-brained one :)

suva.n.nacetiya.m kesavaramatthalu"nga.m vara~n~nadhaatu.m
/golden cetiya /with a noble hair as its brain /noble as another dhatu
/

sudevanaamaka.m naradevehi sabbapuujita.m aha.m vandaami sabbadaa
/bearing the name "Sudeva" /by men and angels /unanimously revered /I
/salute /always /

pa~n~navaa asmi.m yeva candimaa iva dhaaraya.m
/one with wisdom /in this /very /moon /yea /one who bears /

pi.takattaye saasananiyyaanike timokkhapat.thamavara.m
or (pi.takattaye saasananiyyaaniketi mokkhapat.thamavara.m)
/the three baskets /the dispensation that leads out /first nobility of
the three releases /

apaayanivaara.na.m araha.m saggasopaana.m pa.thama.m upajjha.m
/preventing loss /without defilements /the stairway to heaven /first

gaahaapetvaa pattacivara.m ya.m ya.m jaata.m sa"nghamajjhe pucchaa
