Dear Friends,

Here is the end of the last of the vaggas in the Chakkanipatapaa.li.
All that is left is an end bit called "raagapeyyaala.m". After that,
I think I have finished at least most of the shorter suttas in this
nipata, and am not sure whether to tackle the longer suttas in the
Chakkanipata or go on to another nipata... any advice?

AN 6.12.03 - 23

Comments:

1) tathaagate ni.t.tha"ngato - the commentary here gives help with
"pahiinaka"nkho", and the Thai version I have shows the meaning in a
way that English cannot easily do: "pung plong jai" - with mind made
up and satisfied. The Dhammapada at verse 351 also has
"ni.t.tha"ngato" which there, according to the commentary, means "he
who has reached arahantship". The meaning I get is something like
"gone to the end". Here it means reached an end to doubt, and at Dhp
351 it means an end to defilements. I strangled it a little bit,
putting "in regards the the Tathaagata, has gone over completely".

2) I am not sure about the grammar in "amatadasso..." and please
comment as to whether the grammar indicates another sort of
translation as I have used.

3) For those interested, the names appearing here should all be found
in the Dictionary of Pali Proper Names, a very valuable resource found
at http://www.palikanon.com/english/pali_names/dic_idx.html

Peace be with you,

Yuttadhammo
