Dear Ven. Yuttadhammo and friends,

Bhante: thanks for your generous offer. Yes, I have considered a
dedicated mailing list before. But there are actually intrinsic
values to remain with Yahoo!, the price is, of course, the ads which
some may find annoying. Please don't.

Before I move on, if you are receiving the posts in your mailbox, and
get picture ads, you can change them to plain text ads (which are
just a few line of texts) by changing the message format to "No HTML".

Yahoo! probably also offers 100MB for the archive (I dun have the
info. now), additional space for files, photos, links, and polls,
chat, calendar and a database. I have come across groups which make
use of these features in very creative ways.

It will take many years more to reach the archive space quota. By
then, many of the older messages are probably outdated. They will be
automatically disposed of by the archive system. This is probably the
same for a dedicated system, unless we keep increasing the archive
size.

The registration system, archive system, members' settings, are all
hassle-free, fast, user-friendly and efficient. Archive messages can
be searched with the integrated search funtion. The group also enjoys
free listing on Yahoo! Groups directory, and Yahoo! search engine. As
long as Yahoo! is an on-going business, everything comes without a
price! The benefits exceeded the little ad space (some 100bytes of
text) each user has to download per message.

So, thanks again, Bhante. I think it is better to stay with Yahoo!.

metta,
Yong Peng.

I wonder if you ever thought of moving the Pali group to another
location? As an example, I have an Internet account with 333MB of
webspace, and the ability to set up mailing lists similar to Yahoo!,
only without the ads from Yahoo!, and with the ability to send HTML
(maybe not attachments...). Would you be interested if I offered you
part of our space (maybe 100 MB), and a dedicated mailing list?
