Then, Vasettha and Bharadvaja, a certain being of a
fickle nature said to himself, Hey! What can this
be?, and tasted the earth-essence with his finger.
tassa rasa-pa.thavi.m anguliyaa saayato acchaadesi,
ta.nhaa c assa okkami.
to him / essence-earth / with finger / tasting / it
pleased / craving / and / to him / it arose within
And this one tasting the earth-essence with his finger
was pleased, and craving arose within him.

And these ones tasting the earth-essence with their
fingers were pleased, and craving arose within them.
