Dear Stephen and friends,

thanks for your excellent work, understanding the Chinese language is
like opening another jewel box of the tiratana. I have prepared a
short writeup on the Chinese language, which I shall post after this
message.

A small comment: Singapore officially adopted simplified characters
more than 35 years ago. The local administration, education
institutes and the local press use simplified chinese. However, there
is no ban for private use of traditional chinese. You can also buy
books, magazines and newspapers in traditional chinese (from Taiwan,
Hong Kong and Malaysia) in _all_ bookshops.

metta,
Yong Peng.

The problem using materials specifically designed for modern Chinese

from Taiwan and overseas Chinese areas like Singapore.
