6 I believe should be "The fathers speak."
11 I believe should be "The Buddha protects the Law."
12 I believe should be "The children salute the Buddha."
13 I belive should be "The cook washes the pots."
14 I believe should have "protect" instead of "protects".
16 I believe should be "The Buddhas declare the doctrine."
17 I believe should be "The sons salute the fathers."
18 I believe should be "The beggars wash the pots."
19 I believe should be "They protect the villages."
20 I believe should be "The father salutes the Buddha."
Pali is an inflected language, meaning endings are attached to the
words to indicate how they are being used, e.g., Buddho (the -o at
the end of the noun indicates the word is the singular subject of
the sentence), Buddhaa (the -aa at the end of the noun indicates the
word is the plural subject of the sentence), Buddha.m (the -.m at
the end of the noun indicates the word is the singular object of the
action of the sentence), Buddhe (the -e at the end of the noun
indicates the word is the plural object of the action of the
sentence). There are more cases, of course, and alternative
endings, too - but that's enough to get through the first exercise.
The verb endings for the first exercise are -ti (for he or she) and -
nti (for they), e.g., vadati = he/she speaks and vadanti = they
speak.
