I have met the people involved in the project mentioned below.
According to what they say, this is more than a revised version of
the CSCD, it is based on the original chatthasangayana edition. They
say that all subsequent editions that claim to stem from the
chatthasangayana (CSCD, Nalanda, Sri Jayanthi...) in fact stem from
the earlier fifth council (Burmese) edition. So this edition is
supposed to be the first truly critical international edition. They
have consulted about a dozen editions and include all variant
readings. Their method involved checking the entire text three times
by sight, and also three times by recitation.

I have not seen the text myself. I trust them that the quality of
their work is good, but, despite a good personal link, i cannot get
them to reply to emails, so do not know exactly how the project is
faring.

The edition referred to below is the initial run of 1000 sets as a
royal sponsored edition for prestige institutions. They intend to
print subsequent runs on paperback for more general use (still free
distribution, as i understand), and also to produce a DVD version
(with software developed at the Culalongkorn Uni). I do not know
whether they intend to put it on the web.
