Dear Pali Group:

Hello! I'm new to the group and this is my very first
message. My name is Blake. I'm feeling very much alone
in begining my study of Pali here on the Welsh/English
border (in Knighton, if that means anything to
anybody). It's nice to (virtually) meet you all.

I'm just looking at the verbs in chapter two of Ven.
Naarada's textbook and am wondering why two of them,
disa (deseti) and pesa (peseti) don't act like the
other verbs ending in -a that we've seen thus far. I'd
have thought disa would be rendered disati (in the 3rd
person singular) and pesa, pesati, but I can see I'm
wrong. What I don't understand it WHY I'm wrong.

I don't even want to get into how daa [gives] becomes
deti. I'm going to chalk it up to some kind of
irregular thing, but the other two verbs (deseti,
peseti) look close enough to a pattern that I might
stand some chance of, maybe, comprehending what's
going on there.

Any thoughs or explanations would be most appreciated.

Wtih thanks,

Blake
