I believe sotthibhaava should be taken together
as a compound: the state/condition (bhaava) of
well-being (sotthi).

mahataa is an instrumental singular and probably
goes together with the following 'bhayena' (see
context, in previous post) So together they could
mean 'with great fear' or 'through great fear'.

It's not a very logical pair of words to pick out
of the context for independent translation. In
any case, there's nothing in there about Brahma
or a Great Soul.
