here is a piece of news about the convocation in Sri Lanka:


The fourteenth convocation of the Buddhist and Pali University of
Sri Lanka will be held at 2 p.m. on December 31 at the Bandaranaike
Memorial International Conference Hall. The convocation will be held
under the patronage of Most Ven. Weweldeniye Sri Medhalankara Maha
Nayake Thera of the Ramanya Nikaya of Sri Lanka and Maha
Mahopadhyaya of the Buddhist and Pali University of Sri Lanka.

237 degrees of M.Phil., Postgraduate degrees, Postgraduate Diplomas
and Bachelor of Arts will be awarded at this convocation to those
who have been successful at the examinations held in the years 2000,
2001, 2002 and 2003, states a press release by the Buddhist and Pali
University of Sri Lanka.

Graduands of the foreign institute of Singapore registered under
this University are also expected to have their degrees awarded at
this convocation.

The awarding of the Honorary degree of "Sahithya Chakkrawarthy"
(Doctor of Literature) to the following two Parivenadipathi Theras
who has been serving two leading Pirivenas of this country will be a
special feature of the convocation. Ven. Pandit Akuratiye Sri
Amarawansa Nayake Thera Parivenadhipathi, Vidyodaya Pirivena.

Ven. Welamitiyawe Sri Kusaladhamma Nayake Thera Parivenadhipathi,
Vidyalankara Pirivena, The Chancellor, University of Kelaniya.

The convocation address is scheduled to be delivered by Ven.
Welamitiyawe Sri Kusaladhamma Nayaka Thera the Chancellor of
University of Kelaniya. Local and foreign invitees including
Ambassadors representing Japan, China, South Korea, Thailand,
Pakistan, Burma, India, Bangladesh and Nepal are to be invited to be
present at the convocation.
