Dear Gunnar,

You might say I am (tongue in cheek) a "native" English speaker, since English is my
first language.
In fact, I'm a "banana" (white inside, yellow outside) on the Chinese tree. And I'm
not alone.

Still it's good to hear from some philologist. I can almost see/hear what KR Norman
might say.

Anyway, such discussions are very useful in helping us broaden our scope and focus
our view in this tricky trade of translation where "traduttore tradittore".

On Translating from Pali. (1984c) In "One Vehicle" [journal of the National U of
Singapore]. Singapore, 1984.

Perhaps someone could recommend us some great journal articles on this topic on the
translation of 'sraddhaa/saddhaa.
