Dear friends,

I am currently studying for a term test for Wednesday at uni. and
recalled a Buddhist stanza by Empress Wu (Tang-Zhou Dynasty, China).
This stanza is well known to Chinese Mahayana Buddhists; they print it
before the beginning of each sutra, and name it the "Sutra Embarkment
Stanza" (Kai Jing Ji). I wrote it on the white board, and made a rough
translation of it, which I shall share with you:

The Embarkment Stanza:

A doctrine of profound wisdom,
A chance of one in zillion eons;
An opportunity to practise upon hearing,
I vow to understand Thy Teachings.

metta,
Yong Peng.
