Hello, all.

I'm new to the group, so I hope you'll understand if I commit any faux-pas in this first
posting.

I'm looking for a partner or a group of people with whom to study the Pali language in San
Francisco.

I began teaching myself from Warder about four years ago, but didn't make it past Lesson
5 before becoming too involved with other things to keep up my studies. Now, after a
recent trip back to Thailand and picking up a translation of the Abhidhammattha Sangaha,
I really want to get back to Pali, and I want to do it thoroughly and diligently, this time. If I
had a set schedule, and others with whom to study, I think it would be easier for me to
stick to my studies.

I have both Warder's Introduction to Pali and Lily de Silva's Pali Primer. I think Warder is the
better choice for me (I've learned a few other languages at least in part through formal
grammars, and I'm comfortable with grammatical terminology), but I'm willing to work
with whatever other people can access. I'd like for us to work on our own, but to meet
once a week to compare exercises and clear up any confusion we may have encountered
along the way. We can meet at my place (Lower Haight), a cafe, or at some mutually
convenient location. I'm interested in going at a steady but easy pace (perhaps a lesson a
week, if we do Warder?), but I'm open to other people's agenda, as well. I can certainly
work faster. I'd rather not go more slowly.

Please do e-mail me if this sounds appealing to you. We can work out the details.
