Your examples gave me much pleasure, since I also frequently meet .thapeti
in the Visuddhimagga Tiika. Here it is used with sesa instead of avasesa.
Here it is :
Tiika:
<Tattha .thapetvaa uddhaccasahagata.m sesa.m ekaadasavidhampi catuusupi
apaayesu pa.tisandhi.m deti, pavattivipaaka.m sugatiyampi.
Excluding here the consciousness rooted in ignorance and accompanied by
restlessness, the other eleven types of unwholesome consciousness produce
rebirth-consciousness in the four unhappy planes and they produce also
result in the course of life in a happy plane. >
