Dear Charles, Rett, and friends,

what Rett says is right, but the sentence will be better as "We go
from mountain to mountain by the means of horses."

To Charles: "saddhi.m" is introduced in the next chapter, so I avoid
using it until then, although the general rule is to use it to mean
companionship.

One function which saddhim or saha could have is to help disambiguate
a sentence if the funnciton of the case isn't entirely clear. By
using it, you are (I believe) emphasizing that the instrumental case
refers to being _accompanied_ by the horses, rather than using the
horses as an instrument for travel.
