Venerable Yuttadhammo,
A note to <pa.tippassaddhiladdhena: Co: samaadhi that has reached freedom
from defilements.> may be of interest.
I came across Buddhist Dictionary, Ven. Nyanatiloka, the five kinds of
pahaana: vikkhambhana, tadanga, samuccheda, pa.tippassaddhi, nissara.na. As
to pa.tippassaddhi pahaana: overcoming by tranquillization, referring to the
moment of phalacitta, fruition-consciousness, when defilements have been
eradicated (by the magga-citta).
With respect,
Nina.
