Apologies for the speed... recovering from food poisoning. Forgive the running commentary, but disease is a very good way to put one's spiritual practice in perspective... A friend mine told me a story of her sister whom I taught meditation to some time back. She got in a bus accident with a moose and ended up through the windshield and lying on a rock for two hours. She passed the two hours by watching her belly rising and falling. Anyway, there's my tangent, here's the sutta:

Comments:
1) "anekavihita'm iddhividha'm" is a funny set of compounds. If you follow the PED's definitions for each compound, it makes sense, but vihita
means "endowed" and vidha means "-fold" so it's as if the two endings were stuck to the wrong words - I would have expected: "anekavidha'm iddhivihita'm". Anyway, I'm sure it makes sense to some people :)
2) "pa.niitena" - please explain it to me, whether i've understood it correctly with "excellence". The rest of this first sentence is somewhat confusing too. Please explain if I have got it wrong - or any other part of the sutta of course.
