Dear Venerable,

>1) Would it be possible to download the entire PED from the website:
http://dsal.uchicago.edu/dictionaries/pali/index.html
>one page at a time? Maybe have a group of people do it, each downloading
100 pages and saving them, then putting it together in an HTML "book" and
putting >it in the files section? Would that be breaking any laws? It
certainly would be helpful. I am willing to download part of the book, say
100 pages.

This is exactly what i did about a year ago or so. I edited the downloaded
html pages and made a nice pdf. As you can see on my website
(http://www.nibbanam.com/dict.htm), i soon got a note from Chicago not to
infringe the copyright. I thought that a recompilation wont break copyright
issues and asked whether chicago would like to host the pdf-version of the
PED, but they refused to do so... Sure, it means more traffic to their site
;-)

So, until the PTS authorizes a digital version of the PED or (even better!)
allows CSCD project to incorporate the PED into their CDROM, their is no way
around the paperback or chicago site...

yours in metta,

Lennart
