At one time the Teacher left the group and, thus being
alone, entered a certain forest. And an elephant
king, named Parileyyaka, left the elephant herd and
entered this forest. He saw the Blessed One sitting
at the foot of a tree, cleared underneath the tree by
striking with his foot, took a branch in his trunk and
swept. From then on, every day he took a pot with his
trunk, brought drinking water, and set down the pot,
and since hot water was needed, he prepared it.
