Its probably not much i can tell, but as far as i know
the MahaSamaya Sutta is very endeared to the gods.
There is a story in the commentaries ( i dont know the
passage right now, but others will remember), where a
forest deva in Sri Lanka appears before a thera who
recited the sutta. The deva told the monk, that it
remembered the instance, when the sutta was preached.
At that time the deva wanted to listen to Buddha
preaching - but because so many mighty and powerful
devas gathered, she was pushed away - to Sri Lanka.
