Not being able to find any sutta support for arahantship without the
jhanas doesn't necessarily mean that none exist. I rather like the
commentarial explanation of the five kinds of pa~n~naavimuttas, one of
which is the sukkhavipassaka while the remaining four are with the
jhaanas. Either way, I'm all for arahantship with or without the
jhaanas.
