All,

I have been involved in Theravada Buddhism and Vipassana Meditation
Groups for several years but none that stressed, or required, more
than a very basic understanding of the Pali language. The emphasis
has mostly been to recognize only the most common Pali words
sprinkled throughout English text translations of Suttas and Dhamma
literature and to memorize chants through listening and mimicking
them back.

I have long had an interest in a more in-depth understanding of
Pali. My hope is that I not get in over my head by joining a group
whose members have a much advanced grasp of the concept and language
than I, and thereby, become overwhelmed and frustrated.

My most sincere hope is that I now have an opportunity to advance my
Dhamma Practice through learning more about the language of the Pali
Canon and the enrichment or a more expanded Sangha.

Metta,

Jerry Robinson
