I read of one last night, which I can send in in detail this evening
when I can give the page/line references. It's a missed allusion.

Imagine if a modern text contained allusions to some well-known
story, let's say...Star Wars. If at a certain point it said: "Luke
held a lightsaber, Han held a blaster." Suppose the commentator was
puzzled over the question 'who is this Han', and finally wrote: "Han
means Hanuman, the monkey king". We would be able to see that the
commentator missed the point there, since in that context it must be
Han Solo, the space buccaneer. The example is like that.
