"Ta.m ki.m maññatha, bhikkhave katama.m nu kho vara.m

"What do you think, monks? Which is better?
ya.m balavaa puriso ti.nhaaya sattiyaa teladhotaaya paccorasmi.m

whether / strong / man / sharp / with sword / oil-cleansed / at
nether-quarters / (if) would strike
If a strong man were to strike at the nether-quarters with a sharp,
oil-cleansed sword?
ti.nha (adj.) sharp.
sattiyaa (ins. of satti, f.) with a sword, dagger.
tela (n.) oil.
dhota (p.p. of dhovati) washed, rinsed, cleansed.
teladhota = tela + dhota = oil-cleansed.
paccora (adj.) nether-quarters.
pahareyya (optative of paharati) if he would hit, strike.
ya.m vaa khattiyamahaasaalaana.m vaa braahma.namahaasaalaana.m vaa
gahapatimahaasaalaana.m vaa añjalikamma.m saadiyeyyaa"ti?
that / or / from rich kshatriyas / or / from rich brahmins / or / from
rich householders / or / act of salutation / would enjoy / (end-quote)
Or, to derive enjoyment when rich kshatriyas, brahmins, householders
press the palms together in salutation?"

To derive enjoyment when rich kshatriyas, brahmins, householders press
the palms together in salutation.

for it would be painful / venerable Sir / that which / strong / man /
sharp / with sword / oil-cleansed / at nether-quarters / (if) would

For it would be painful, venerable Sir, that a strong man were to
strike at the nether-quarters with a sharp, oil-cleansed sword."
