I just subscribed to this group and was encouraged by the message in the
Moderator message to introduce myself. I am new to Theravada Buddhism --
only about "10 months old" -- and today made the resolve to start to
memorize some suttas. It seems to me this would be best done in Pali, so
one first has to learn Pali. Also, it is clear that being able to read the
suttas in Pali would help so much in understanding all that is there.
I learned of this group through the link to it at the "Pali Word by Word"
section of Tipitaka.net. This is all quite new to me still, and there is
still much to explore.
There are no Pali resources I'm aware of in my community in West Alabama,
so I will be working through the "Elementary Pali Course" and "Practical
Grammar of the Pali Language" at the Tipitaka.net site, and will no doubt
learn of useful resources here and in the group's archive.
