Dear Steven,
Siimaa means boundary. A chapter house for the monks. Ordination takes place
in a Siimaa I understood, thus it is very important. I recently heard that
there are very many rules for its building. The late Ven. Dhammadharo had
mentioned that even electricity cables may interfere with the boundary, they
can be impediments.
But I do not know about the rules, we should ask Vinaya experts. Marking the
siimaa, I think all details are significant. Building a Siimaa is not a
small matter.
Some time ago a member of this list mentioned building a Sima.
