Aloha Rodney,

On the second thought, 'vedalla' and 'vaipulya' have something in
common.

If we look at the Culavedalla and Mahavedalla suttas
http://www.accesstoinsight.org/canon/majjhima/mn044.html
http://metta.lk/tipitaka/2Sutta-Pitaka/2Majjhima-Nikaya/Majjhima1/043-mahavedalla-sutta-e1.htm
we see that they are similar to Sanskrit 'vedaa"nga' - additional texts for
interpretation of terms in the main body of texts.

Vaipulya texts are also additional in the sense that they are added to
the main body of texts.

Aloha pumehana,
Dimitry
