Hello All,

My name is Michael Beisert and I have just recently joined this discussion
group. I currently live in Atlanta, GA, USA, and previously have lived most
of my life in Brazil. My interest in Buddhism started about 9 years ago. I
have been to a number of meditation retreats, more often at The Bhavana
Society and practice meditation on a regular basis. Besides practice I also
have an intelectual interest in Buddhism and have read a lot, mostly
Theravada teachings but over the last year or so have also ventured into
some Mahayana teachings.

Three years ago I decided to launch a web site in Portuguese with
translations of Theravada teachings. The site is a mirror of the Access to
Insight web site and contains many of the texts found there. But also
gradually I have added other texts not found in the Access to Insight most
notably writings by Bhante Gunaratana and Venerable Payutto. Currently the
site has in excess of 300 suttas translated of which more than 80 from the
Majjhima Nikaya and about 90 essays and texts from several authors.

I am deeply commited to Buddhism and my purpose in joining this group is to
learn more and contribute whenever possible.
