Dear Nina and friends,
thanks. Hence:
Eva.m vutte, raajaa maagadho ajaatasattu vedehiputto tu.nhii ahosi.
With reference to what was thus said, the king of Magadha, the son of
the Videha princess, Ajatasattu was silent.

N: vutte: I came across of this in Co Rahula, and was puzzled, I
thought of it for a long time. It can also be locative sing. We could
translate it as: with reference to what was thus said. It is strange
if it would be acc pl, because where is the subject?
P.T.S translates: when he had thus spoken. This sounds better, it is
a free translation.
