adversative & interrogative particle, sometimes merely connecting &
continuing the story.

1. (adversative) but, on the contrary.

(b) atha ca pana - and yet
(c) na kho pana - certainly not
(d) vaa pana - or else

2. (interrogative) then, now.

3. (conclusive or copulative) and, and now, further, moreover.

KathaƱca pana, bhikkhave, bhikkhu kaaye kaayaanupassii viharati?
for what reason / then / O monks / monk / on body / ??? / dwells

kathaƱca = katha.m+ca : why, for what reason.
bhikkhu (m.) monk.
kaaya (m.) body, in this case the word takes the implied meaning of
a collection or accumulation (of aggregates).
anupassati (v.) looks at, contemplates, observes.
kaaya+anupassii = contemplating body?
viharati (v.) dwells, lives.


Please help on the compound 'kaayaanupassii'.
