Dear Nina and friends,
I am fairly new to abhidhamma. I can understand about cognition, and
the cetasika-object relationship. I also understand the part where we
cling to our wrong views leading to dukkha. However, I do not
understand on the part on agreeable and unagreeable. Can I say that
by 'agreeable', it means that the mind is pleased with it, but may
not necessarily benefit from that pleasant moment of thought? Can I
also say, from my understanding of the sutta text, that regardless of
agreeable and disagreeable impressions, we have to develop a mental
state (like the earth, water...) such that these impressions will not
persistently overwhelm the mind? Is the end result one-pointedness of
mind, or are we looking at the jhanas here, or are we going into
insight? It will be interesting to learn what the subcomm. comments
on this section. Thanks very much.
metta,
Yong Peng

Wrong view arises with lobha, there is always clinging at such

one's wrong view. I shall post the relevant subcommentary too, only
one section. I shall not translate many sections of this
subcommentary. The subcommentary stresses vipassana, insight. Rahula
had to develop insight, right understanding, seeing the body and all
experiences as only elements.
