Dear Nina,
jaradhammomhi = jara+dhammo amhi
jara = old age, aging (senescence!)
dhammo = of the nature of
amhi = I am (alternate form of asmi, 1st person,
singular of atthi)
the o+a with sandhi become o.
Similarly for byaadi,dhammo'mhi and marana,dhammo'mhi.
I have a friend too who is very sick with cancer and
will probably die soon. He is a Buddhist and was very
appreciative when I shared these lines with him. Of
course though, while we are young and/or healthy and
still alive are just as important times to reflect on
these as when we are not.
I appreciate all you do to enhance this group, Nina.
Thank you.
Metta,
John
