I have not heard of Aagamas in Sanskrit. Are you sure?
I have heard of the Aagamas in Chinese and they have commentaries. It was
with the help of the commentaries that Yin Shun established that some of the
sections of the Chinese Canon had been mixed up way back in history and now
the new version of the Chinese Canon follows Yin Shun's findings and has put
them back in the order indicated by logic and the commentaries.

I know you can get the Chinese Canon on CD for free from Taiwan
http://www.cbeta.org Don't know about the Sanskrit.
I only know that there are not many Sanskrit equivalents of the Paali (and
Chinese) early texts. I guess a lot were destroyed when intollerant
conquorers came to India.
