Dear Dimitri and friends,

A few years ago i read that achaeologists in Varanasi (isipatane) found a
stone which carried parts of the sutta-pitaka in pali. It was discovered
that this stone dated from Asokas time.
Back then scientists discussed, whether the pali canon was already arranged
in Asokas time in the same way which we have it now. Thus suggesting that
pali really had been Buddhas tongue or at least was known in Asokas time.
