A file with an .exe suffix will not work on a Mac.

If you want to use the VRI font on a Mac I suggest you try the following:

1) Download the fonts in zip format from
http://www.tipitaka.org/general/palifont.zip.

2) Open the zip file using Stuffit Expander or Unzip. You will then have
two Windows font files: VROMDDB0.TTF and VROMDDN0.TTF.

3) Convert these to Macintosh fonts using the program TrueType-Converter
available from ftp://ftp.visi.com/users/thornley/TTConverter1.5.sit.hqx

4) Drop the fonts onto your system folder. They will now be available for
use by Word.

There is a problem, however. Although all of the Pali diacritical
characters are present in these Macintosh fonts, the mapping of some of
them will not match those in the Windows fonts. So, you will need to use
either your word-processor or some search & replace program to make
character changes in your Tipitaka files:

Pi --> Omega
n-tilde --> O-grave
fl-ligature --> n-tilde
a-umlaut --> apostrophe (and a few other changes I can't remember now).

All pretty messy, I'm afraid. A better option is to get a copy of the
Tipitaka CD and then convert the files to Macintosh format using a filter
developed by Lance Cousins. The filter can be obtained from:
http://www.fsnow.com/pali/mac.htm

The resultant files are readable with Normyn and Mytimes fonts.

Best wishes,

Robert
