Dear Tzungkuen,
This is a common introductory phrase. It is often left off of the
Singahlese and Thai editions of the Tipitaka but usually included in
the Burmese editions (i.e. Chatthasangayana CSCD)
Bhikkhu Bodhi doesn't include it in his translation of the
Abhidhammathasangaha (nor does the PTS translation or the one by
Narada as far as I can see) but it is on CSCD.
Peter Masefield translates it as 'An account of the inception of the
composition' in his translation of the udana commentary. Horner
translates it as 'Story of the books beginning'in her translation of
the Buddhavamsa commentary. I think aarambhanam means beginning or
commencement.
