I don't think this is an error. Upekkha is the attainment
of the third jhana. In the fourth jhana, upekkha is
stilled, so attention to upekkha becomes a hindrance.

This is consistent with the other jhanas, as well as the
other states described in the sutta. At each level, the
attainment of the previous level is left behind; if your
attention is stuck in that previous level, that will
interfere with your progress.

This is my interpretation. If someone else has a different
view, please share it.
