Dear all,

Some of you may have tried out the "Pali-English & English-Pali Dictionary", a program created by a team led by one Phra Khim Ramaniyo (Kewpradit), which I've installed into my computer. I've a problem using it, so wonder if someone here could offer some help. [I've tried to send an email to Phra Khim but it bounced.]

I've not been able to use the program. After launching it, as soon as I type one character into the "Search for" box, I get the following error message:

======================================================================
Runtime Error '731'.

Class not registered.
Looking for object with CLSID: {a-long-string-digits}
======================================================================
Note: The "a-long-string-of-digits", of course, does not mean "a-long-string-of-digits", but is actually a long string of digits. (Hope that's not too confusing.)

I checked into the Help file to look for some sort of troubleshooting advice. Instead, I found this:
======================================================================
Before you start to install the Pali-English & English-Pali Dictionary make sure that you have installed MS-Office into your computer. This program is needed a certain important shared-file with the MS-Office to load the data to the dictionary. Otherwise you would see that your dictionary is empty.
======================================================================

1. Is the error due to not having MSOffice in my computer? (It's true that I don't have that. I use Lotus SmartSuite 9.6 instead which came with the computer.)

2. Is there a work-about to that? (Otherwise, I would have to get one of my dayakas to get me MSOffice just to be able to use the dictionary, or give it up, which would be quite a pity.)

Anyone found a solution?

kumaara

[Note: This program is not the same as the one by Andrew Shaw, which I could use, but do get annoyed by the copyright message that pops up every time I mistakenly press "Enter" after keying in a word. Have tried contacted the author about the matter by got no reply.]
