Dear friends,

John Kelly and I recently finished working our way through Pali Primer.
Along the way, we compiled a list of what we think are errors in the book,
as well as inconsistencies. I've uploaded this list to the file section of
the group as PPCorrections JK.doc. This is a Word text file. I hope that
both Mac and Windows users can access it.

You'll see from the list that most of our comments concern the answer key.
Having worked rather closely with the key, I've come to the conclusion that
it was compiled independently of the text. There are too many instances
where a translation is acceptable Pali that does not conform to what has
been presented in PP. One especially sees this in the choice of vocabulary,
where the vocabulary introduced in a lesson does not appear in the key. So,
if you are relying on the key to check your work, be advised that it is not
always the only correct answer!

But, all in all we are lucky to have it. Our small but enthusiastic
community of Pali scholars must rely on whatever we can get.

Metta,
Henry
