339. Eva.m vutte aayasmaa raahulo "naaha.m bhagavaa niicapuriso viya
sa.mvaasahetu maana.m vaa mada.m vaa karomii"ti diipento ima.m
pa.tigaathamaaha "naaha.m abhi.nhasa.mvaasaa"ti. Saa uttaanatthaa eva.

This counter-stanza in response: "I don't because of continuous living
together" is explained by what venerable Rahula said: "Blessed One, I
don't, like some low person, act with arrogance or conceit because of
continuous living together." It [this stanza] is just for the sake of
clarity.
