Interesting teaching ("3 kinds of acquired self," DN 9). I'd never
come across that one before. Thank you for bringing it to our
attention. BTW it's Maurice Walshe's note 220 you mean, I think?
The note 220 also refers us to the bit in DN 33 (PTS iii.231) where
it talks about the ways to acquire a new self (attabhaava-
pa.tilaabhaa). This is in the context of a discussion of what happens
as we enter the womb.
The only connection I can make with that is the description of what
happens at conception in MN 38 (PTS i.265).
