I mentioned in my introduction that I started learning Pali because I
wanted to understand the chanting.

That page also has lots of information beginners may find useful.

For experienced translators, you might be able to offer some
corrections or comments. I'd love to have them, but I'm having
difficulty uploading to that site right now, so I may not be able to
incorporate your points immediately.
