This discussion group was started by Ms Laura Wenk on December 20,
2000. Ms Laura Wenk is a teaching staff at Coe College, a private
college in Iowa, USA. The list serves a completely different function
then, but it was rather inactive. When I took over the list from Ms
Wenk, there were only three messages and less than 10 members.
It was upon chance that I stumbled onto this list this year, and I
feel that the name of the list 'Pali' would be better used for
another purpose - bring together people who are interested in the
study of Pali language and literature, the literary foundation of
Theravada Buddhism.
It was very kind of Ms Wenk to transfer the ownership of the list
after I wrote to her in May, and I take this opportunity to thanks
her again for her kindness, and hopefully she may come back one day
to read this message.
Today, the list is given a new life and to serve a new community. It
is hoped that it will live up to its name and become an important
resource for students of the Pali language.
