Why don't you allow non-members to read the message archives at
b_c_n_2003? That is *not* the same as allowing non-members to post.
If you did that, you could just post a short note with a URL to the
message(s) at other groups (perhaps once a month), and people who
wished to continue the discussion could join your group and discuss
the matters there. That would probably also save you a lot of effort
in forwarding the replies.
