"The Aryans; A Study of Indo European Origins" (1926) was an attempt
to look at the historical origins and Urheimat of Indo-Europeans
generally. In the days in which he was writing Aryan was often used
interchangeably with Indo-European. This was before the Nazi
theories of "Ubermenschen" and in fact Childe has no aspect of this
in his work - which was an attempt to link philology with archaeology.

Childe himself was not happy with this work as he was later to insist
that it not be republished (he was very much more aware
that "cultural group" does not equal "linguistic group"), an error he
made in his earlier work.
