the other possible script that might be the influence that led to
ogham could be phoenecian. there are phoenecian trade goods in digs
at old tin mines in cornwall. intermediaries could have traded them
but they also could have brought the script if not brought directly.
and i realize that the tales in the leabhear gabala are unlikely to
be reliable, except perhaps in "statements against interest"(sorry i
used to be a lawyer), where they are talking of the cruinthe. there
they are grudgelingly admiting the presence of people before them. i
think most people think gaels are relative newcommers. it's brythonic
people who might be very old inhabitants of the area.
the other of the two root ancestors to the gael in the l.g. are
milesians from north west spain. the celtiberian script does reveal a
gael rather than welsh link( i always forget who is p and who is q).
well at least i found the indeuropean list, that might be more on
point for my purposes
