Here's a link if anyone is interested in ordering a copy of the SIL Ethnologue; the prices are reasonable.  I like the concept of "onion peel" progression Danny.  Care to explain it further?

I hear ya.  I was being vague in my listing; I'm more of a lumper than a splitter.  And I left out the Permian branch of Finnic.  The SIL Ethnologue has something pretty similar, with an "onion peel" type of progression in Finno-Ugric.  ~DaW~
