Then Snorri answers: "Of such cases which well sought for my help is an expectation to you.

Vil eg þessu máli vel svara því að mér þykir Bolli hinn mannvænsti maður og sú kona þykir mér vel gift er honum er gift.
I want to answer well this case because to me it seems Bolli (is) the most promising man and his wife seems to me well married which to him is married.

En það mun þó mestu um stýra hversu Þórdísi er um gefið því að hún skal þann einn mann eiga að henni sé vel að skapi."
But that will yet most govern concerning how Thordisi is concerning given in matrimony because she shall marry that one man alone (who) to her would be to her mind."

Þetta mál kemur fyrir Þórdísi en hún svarar á þá leið að hún mundi þar um hlíta forsjá föður síns, kvaðst fúsari að giftast Bolla í sinni sveit en ókunnum manni lengra í brott.
This case comes before Thordis, and she answers to that way that she would there concerning trust her father's foresight, said for himself more willingly to get married with Bolli in his district than an unknown man farther away.

And when Snorri discovered that to her this was not against her condition of mind, to go with Bolli, then this is resolved and (the) betrothals went forward. (ráð 2 - gøra e-t at ráði, to resolve)

Snorri shall have the wedding inside and (it) shall be at the middle of summer.

With this they, Thorkel and Bolli, ride home to Helgafell and Bolli now stays at home until the wedding meeting comes.

They get ready now at home, Thorkel and Bolli, and their men with them which were intended to this.

There was there a great crowd and the most magnificent family, rides now on their way and comes to Tongue.

Eru þar allgóðar viðtökur.
(They) are well received there.

(There) was a great crowd there and the most splendid wedding feast.

And when the feast came to an end, people went away.

Snorri gaf Þorkatli gjafar sæmilegar og þeim Guðrúnu báðum, slíkt sama öðrum sínum vinum og frændum.
Snorri gave Thorkatl honorable gifts and to them, both the Gudruns, in such wise the same to his other relatives and friends.

Ríður nú hver heim til síns heimilis þeirra manna er þetta boð hafa sótt.
Every(one) now rides home to his homestead, the people who have come (to) this wedding.

Bolli stayed in Tongue and they, Thordis and he, soon came to love each other very much.

Snorri also took great pains to support Bolli well and was to him ever so better than to his (Snorri's own) children. (Z. stund 5 - leggja stund á e-t, to take pains about a thing)

Bollie accepted it well and it is to them high favor the seasons in Tongue. (?) (similar to Z. yfirlæti - vera með e-m í miklu, góðu yfirlæti, to be in high favor with one)

Um sumarið eftir kom skip af hafi í Hvítá.
During the next summer, a ship came from (across the) ocean to Hvita (White River?).

Það skip átti hálft Þorleikur Bollason en hálft áttu norrænir menn.
Thorleikr Bollason owned half that ship, and Norwegian men owned half.

And when Bolli learns of his brother's coming-out-to-Iceland, he rides at once south to Borgarfjard and to (the) ship.

Verður hvor þeirra bræðra öðrum feginn.
It happens each of the brothers pleased the other. (?)

Er Bolli þar svo að nóttum skiptir.
Bolli stays there thus that the night divides (= half the night?).
