Smalamaður Bolla fór að fé snemma um morguninn uppi í hlíðinni. Hann sá
mennina í skóginum
Bolli’s shepherd went to (the) livestock early during the morning up to the
gate. He saw the men in the forest
og svo hrossin er bundin voru. Hann grunar að þetta muni eigi vera friðmenn
er svo leynilega

Halldór var skyggn maður. Hann sér að maðurinn hleypur ofan úr hlíðinni og
stefndi til selsins.
Halldor was a man with acute vision. He sees that the man leaps from below
out of the gate and headed for the sheiling.
Hann segir förunautum sínum að það mun vera smalamaður Bolla "og mun hafa
séð ferð vora.
He tells his comrades that it will be Bolli’s shepherd, “and (he) will have
seen our journey.
Skulum vér nú gera í móti honum og láta hann engri njósn koma til selsins."
We shall now attack him and let him bring no news to the sheiling.”
Þeir gerðu sem hann mælti fyrir. Án hrísmagi varð þeirra skjótastur og getur
farið sveininn, tekur
