Nú er að segja frá ferð Kolfinns.
Now it is time to tell about Kokfin's journey.
Hann var sár mjög sem sagt var.
He was very wounded as was said.
Ár stórar voru á leið hans.
Large rivers were in his path.
En er hann kom af Leiruvogsá þá gerði honum kalt mjög og stirðnaði hann.
When he escaped Leiruvogsa, then he became very cold and he became stiff.
Frost var á nokkuð.
There was a certain degree of frost. (Not sure how "á" fits here)
Maður hét Korpúlfur.
A man was named Korpulfur.
Hann bjó á Korpúlfsstöðum.
He lived at Korpulfs-place.
Hann var gamall maður og kallaður heldur forn í brögðum.
He was an old man and called rather old in looks.
Son átti hann þann er Grímur hét.
He had a son, that one who was named Grimur.
Hann var ungur og frálegt mannsefni.
He was young and swift in matters of men.
Korpúlfur var móðurbróðir Kolfinns.
Korpulfur was Kolfin's uncle on his mother's side.
Þangað sneri Kolfinnur sinni ferð og fékk þar góðar viðtökur.
Kolfinnur at once turned to his journey and received a good welcome there.
Batt Korpúlfur sár hans.
Korpulfur bound up his wound.
Dvaldist Kolfinnur þar um hríð en sendi móður sinni orð hvað hann dvaldi.
Kolfinnur stayed there a while and sent his mother word where he was staying.
Þenna sama morgun sem Örn var veginn kom Esja snemma til fóstra síns.
This same morning when Orn had fought, Esja came quickly to his foster relative.
Hann fagnaði henni vel og spurði að tíðindum.
He received her well and asked about news.
Esja sagði honum víg Arnar austmanns og alla atburði þá er þar urðu: "Nú vil eg að þú breytir búnaði þínum.
Esja told him about Arn the Norwegian's fight and all events, when they happened there: "Now I want that you change your attire.
Hefi eg hér nú loðkápu er eg vil að þú berir.
I have here now a fur cloak which I want that you wear.
Skyrta er hér annað klæði.
Another garment here is a shirt.
Það þykir mér líkara að hún slitni ekki skjótt hvorki fyrir vopnum né fyrnsku.
That seems to me more probable that it (meaning "skyrta," I think) did not tear neither from weapons nor age.
Sax er hér hinn þriðji gripur.
A sword is here the third most costly thing.
Þess væntir mig að það nemi hvergi í höggi stað því að þú munt nú skjótt verða að reyna hversu þér bíta vopnin."
I hope that, that never stops in a stroke because you would now speedily come to pass to experience how the weapon cuts for you. (see CV nema - hefi ek þat sverð er hvergi nemr í höggi stað, I have so keen a sword that it never stops in its stroke)
Búi kvað hana ráða skyldu.
Bui told her (he) would enjoy (it).
Búi hélt ferðum sínum í Kollafjörð.
Bui steered his journeys to Kollafiord.
Var nú engi þröng á palli hjá Ólöfu.
There was now no crowd on the dais by Olaf.
Jafnt lét hún til Búa nú sem fyrr.
She precisely ceded to Bui now as previously.
Þá er Kolfinnur var gróinn sára sinna sagði hann Korpúlfi frænda sínum að hann vill finna móður sína.
When Kolfinnur was healed of his wounds, he told Korpulfi his relative that he wants to meet with his mother.
Korpúlfur bað hann því ráða "en því vil eg ráða að þú hafir eigi lengur tötra þessa." sagði Korpúlfur, "vil eg að þú hafir héðan góð klæði og vopn er eg vil gefa þér.
Korpulfur begged him to plan that "and that I will plan that you no longer have these rags," said Korpulfur, "I want that you have henceforth good clothes and a weapon which I will give you.
Muntu þeirra brátt þurfa.
You will soon need them.
Þar með vil eg gefa þér Grím son minn til fylgdar og föruneytis."
Therewith I will give you my son Grim for support and company."
Kolfinnur kvað svo vera skyldu.
Kolfinnur said it should be so.
Eftir það fóru þeir frændur til Vatns að finna Þorgerði.
After that they, the relatives, went to Vatn to visit Thorgerd.
Varð hún þeim fegin og spurði hvað Kolfinnur vildi að hafast.
She was delighted with their coming and asked what Kolfinnur wanted to do. (Z. fegin - with dat., Ingi konungr varð honum hinn fegnasti, king Ingi was delighted with his coming) (Z. hafa - hafast at, to do)
